So for years I have read ebooks. I think the last time I read an actual physical book that's fictional was back in 2016.... maybe before then. It's been a while. And I liked ebooks for all the reasons you listed. However, a few months back I purchased a physical book to read on a whim. For a while it just laid on my desk as I continued to read many more ebooks, up until recently. And wow... I had forgotten what it felt like to read an actual physical book. It's a whole experience that's so different from ebooks. I guess because it engages all your senses. I also noticed I linger a lot more in certain scenes and over certain lines that catch my attention. There's something about reading a physical book that also makes me read a lot more slowly. Usually I fly through ebooks. But I find myself just... lingering. Soaking up the story in a way I haven't in years. The scenes are more vivid and capturing. Like I don't know how to completely explain it. But I just appreciate reading a physical book so much more than an ebook. And that's why I've personally decided to stick with physical books for now on. I love the experience and had no idea how much I missed it.

I should try reading Perfume again. I read it in school and absolutely hated it, it just seemed pointless back then and I hated reading about just some man who kills women, it's tiresome. But there's probably a lot I didn't get back when I was 15.

I love your videos deeply but A HINT OF MISOGYNY? The protagonist literally fantasises about r*ping the supposed "love interest" Julia. And Julia's only interest seems to be sex and maybe sometimes politics although he describes that she always wanted to shag when he wanted to talk about the secret society. I just read the book for the first time last year and couldn’t believe why this is such a well known and loved classic. I see why it’s important because of the overall message but the misogyny is huge! And in my opinion…it’s also not that well written. Okay, I said it. Bye. 😂😅

Nooooo Matched should NOT be up there with the Hunger Games. It isn’t “society expectation vs real feelings”, it’s that she gets matched with her best friend, but the computer glitches out and shows some random outcast dude. And then basically the whole rest of the series is her choosing which one and also the outcast dude staging a rebellion.

  • @LinnieCat

24:13 I mean I learned that in English classes too, but honestly it can still be confusing. My first instinct is always that they/them signifies multiple people and I have to “correct it” in my brain. Not because I intend to be a bigot, but I have to actively think about the use of the word instead of the meaning coming to me naturally
